Job description
This position is a unique opportunity to join the laboratory of Eric Lander, Founder and Director of the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, to study genome biology. We are interested in all aspects of how the human genome works in health and disease, including the role of non-coding DNA elements in the dynamic regulation of gene expression. We are looking for a highly motivated individual with significant experience in systems biology and genetics as well as strong quantitative approaches in biology to facilitate the study of the non-coding genome. Experience in genomics and/or enhancer biology is preferred. A successful candidate will work with a team of experimental and computational scientists to apply these high-throughput tools to characterize the function of regulatory DNA elements genome-wide and their role in health and disease. The Lander Laboratory is a dynamic, interdisciplinary workplace that will provide unique access to cutting edge technologies and scientific thought, with the potential for widespread recognition of resulting scientific contributions.
About the Position:
We are looking for an exceptionally creative and self-motivated individual to join us in studying how genetic variants affect gene expression. A successful candidate will collaborate with internal and external groups to solve challenging biological problems. The work will be multi-disciplinary, combining molecular biology, genetics and genomics and will work closely with experimentalists,
computational biologists and mathematicians.
Key responsibilities include:
Apply and create computational frameworks for uncovering and understanding cellular programs in various cell types and tissues using single cell data.
Develop single cell data pipelines to design and execute function genetic screens to generate a comprehensive map of noncoding elements that regulate gene expression in multiple cell types.
Manage a team of research associates and coordinated complex collaborative projects at the intersection of functional genomics with molecular genetics, cancer biology, and immune diseases
Use demonstrated scientific creativity, collaboration with others, and independent thought to expand technical capabilities and identify new research opportunities
